"Muddy water, let stand, becomes clear."
Lao Tzu

In these challenging times of personal and global upheaval and change, we commonly seek to find a space where we can feel safe and calm. Someplace where worries and anxiety are left behind. Some of us search for an escape with self-soothing addictions like alcohol and sex, yet we know the “high” gained from pleasure is temporary and leaves us wanting.

Meditation is an ancient practice by which we can get beyond the reflexive, “thinking” mind into a deeper state of relaxation or awareness; it has been contemporized over the last 10 years because it is a simple and uncomplicated way of allowing your mind to re-organize itself so you can remember your inherent serenity; the same peace you see in the eyes of a newborn babe.

The word “meditate” stems from the Latin root meditatum, meaning to ponder. Scholars have noted the term “meditation” as it has entered contemporary usage" is parallel to the term "contemplation" in Christianity and Eastern spiritual practices. Today, this term is used to reference to a variety of different practices which achieve a state of psychological relaxation and heightened awareness.

I’m Dr. Deb Sandella, and I think of meditation as a turning of your attention inward to welcome and explore your deeper self. I’ve found that closing your eyes and welcoming whatever shows up in awareness eventually allows you to drop into a place of greater stillness. Brain waves slow naturally and you dip down into the space between thoughts. In these valleys that access alpha, theta and delta brain wave patterns, you touch the intuitive and spiritual self—which some of us call the True Self or the Higher Self.

This experience is profoundly calming and enlightening; it brings into consciousness thoughts, feelings and desires that have been hidden in the subconscious. Thoughts and feelings are transient and not part of our essential self. Thus, the mere act of raising them into awareness causes an emotional release and a shift.

Whether you are new to meditation or have been practicing a long time, the Inner Magician meditations you’ll find on this website help you unlock your essential self so you can sense intuitive insights and remember your true nature as a whole and complete being. You’ll be surprised how easily your true self makes itself known once you slow your pace to create time for contemplation. When we know and trust who we are, we can stop longing to be someone else.

Inner Magician meditations help you relax, contact your intuition, and increase your feeling of wholeness. These meditations have been used in diverse ways, such as rejuvenation, healing from illness, and navigating transitions (e.g. divorce, loss, mid-life changes). Performance athletes also testify to their benefits. In fact, a recent study found that using my Releasing the Inner Magician book and CD for 8 weeks significantly reduced the symptoms of stress-related illness.

In response to the busyness of contemporary life, meditation can be a helpful stress-reducing technique. In fact, 1.5 million people practice this simple technique for greater health and happiness. The National Institute of Health (NIH) has invested millions of dollars to study meditation and similar methods because of the remarkable benefits. In over 1,000 published research studies, various methods of meditation have been linked to changes in metabolism, blood pressure, brain activation and other bodily processes.

In fact, research has proven that meditation can:
  • Increase activity in the brain where positive emotions are created
  • Can prevent major cardiac events in people with Cardio Pulmonary Disease
  • Reduce symptoms of stress-related illnesses (e.g. Irritable Bowel Syndrome/IBS)
  • Lower hypertension and high cholesterol
  • Heighten creativity
  • Decrease anxiety and chronic pain
  • Keep your body 5-10 years younger than your biological age
Additionally, you gain the benefits of:
  • Bliss and indefinable peace
  • Intuitive insights rising into conscious mind
  • A feeling of Universal love and wisdom
  • Uniting with and ‘being’ your unique and magnificent self
  • Higher level and more creative problem resolution
  • Greater spiritual awareness and connection

Almost anything that soothes tension can work for meditation. Music, a quiet walk, a candlelight dinner, holding the hand of a loved one - anything that calms the "noise" of worry and stress and unleashes the real you.

Our Inner Magician meditations are unique because they create brain wave patterns that allow you to dip down into the space between thoughts where intuition lives and bring personal wisdom back into conscious awareness. In addition, they utilize RIM technology, which I created over the last 14 years. RIM is a quick and effective way of using mind-body communication to transform anxiety-causing thoughts and self-sabotaging feelings for greater success and happiness.

With great joy, I share with you a free meditation... Take a few minutes to stop what you are doing... close your door... put your feet up... and listen to the meditation. Notice how quickly, your body remembers it’s natural state of relaxation and how refreshing it feels.

Also, I invite you to join me every month for the Inner Magician’s Monthly Meditation. You can see this month’s meditation by clicking here or if you already know you want a monthly reminder to slow down and connect with yourself, even if for only a few minutes, sign up here.

There is a story of the student who asked the Zen Master, "Where do you go to find your answers?"

The Master Teacher looked directly at the student and said, "I close my eyes."

Remember to close your eyes... when you seek answers...
