My name is Deb Sandella,
and I've been taking people on exciting, life-changing journeys for over
10 years. Last year, we traveled to Machu Picchu, Peru; it was the most
amazing trip of my career.
Seventeen of us traveled the roads, rivers and
mountains, and quickly became a family-- only difference being no sibling
quarrels in the backseat--thank goodness. As I contemplate our experiences,
I am flooded with memories-- the powerful energy of the sacred apus (mountains)
especially Machu Picchu, the purity in the faces of the children, the
closeness and love in our travel family, and the profound experience of
fully opening to receive. Themes for my spiritual journeys arise from
the groups' spontaneous experiences, and this adventure quickly brought
requests to expand our willingness to receive.

We traveled in a land where the population outside
Lima live similar to their ancestors thousands of years earlier. For sixty
percent of the people, home is a shanty, some being single room adobe
squares with dirt floors and no running water. Stoves for cooking are
wood-burning, and yet they proudly shared with us. At first, we wanted
to say, "oh no, don't waste your resources, we don't need them,
keep them for yourself." With the insights of our Peruvian guide,
we quickly realized their sharing does not originate from thoughts about
"need," but out of a beautiful feeling of community and connection.

As we expanded our willingness to receive we became,
as one participant described, "floating in a magical bubble where
all of our needs were met." The communion we felt with the inner
self, the sacred land, the Peruvians, and each other cracked us open,
and we germinated like new fertile seeds growing quickly, easily and playfully.
Yes, we were on the fast track--discovering as much love, landscape, and
experience we could assimilate. One participant joked, "we ought
to call it a Machu Picchu Advance rather than Retreat." In reflection,
I agree it was an "advanced" spiritual journey for
we learned that being "spiritual" isn't limited to meditating
on the mountaintop. As one person summarized, " At first I was
shocked to experience the depth of a powerful fire ceremony led by a loving
shaman, then in the next moment walk across the street to shop. In the
end, this experience was perfect because I learned how to bring the spiritual
into my everyday activities."
We became One with each other and One with Peru--there
is no greater spiritual bliss than to be immersed in pure Love on the
inside and the outside.

Machu Picchu Calling You?
I've had so many requests to repeat
this journey, that I've decided to offer a virtual class to teach you
how to successfully organize your own travel group to Peru, and have your
expenses covered. I believe that those of us who visit these power spots
in the world are changed forever for the better. I also learned from a
Peruvian shaman that the energy of a power spot is deepened everytime
people share ceremony on it; thus as we walked, meditated, and chanted
at sacred sites in Peru, they grew in spiritual power. This spiritual
journey offers a balance of global friendship and shared spiritual deepening.
