I’ve been helping others find themselves for over 40 years as a therapist, educator and originator of the transformative RIM Method (Regenerating Images in Memory). It wasn't until I journeyed halfway around the world on a personal sabbatical to Australia that I realized I had become more aware of my client's feelings than my own. My life-changing Walkabout spawned a personal transformation that inspired me to change the direction of my work from therapy to understanding the power accessible in our inherent emotional system. I’ve discovered we are more capable of quicker healing and transformation than we’ve thought possible.
Throughout my career, I’ve loved soaring above limitations and producing results beyond expectation. For example, I began my career in the early 70's by innovating two creative mental health programs to hospitalize clients locally rather than sending them to the state hospital. I used beds in the community medical hospital, staffed them round the clock with psychiatric nurse practitioners and involved their families. Successful inpatient stays dropped dramatically from an average of 2-3 weeks to 2-3 days and clients’ return tohome became seamless and extremely successful.
I originated the RIM Method 20 years ago upon my return from Australia. I decided to set aside my expectations of what I thought possible and impossible, and allowed clients to show me what could happen. I have been amazed at the speed and degree of transformation that I’ve witnessed. I’ve learned that each of us has an organic emotional system that inherently knows how to boost positive feelings and dissolve negative ones. It operates similar to an emotional self-cleaning oven that makes life easier, yet you still need to turn it on.
Further, an individual RIM session can transform one’s significant relationship. I’ve seen many marriages transform when one or both partners dissolve deep buried anger from forgotten times. They had no idea how much those old, hidden emotions were leaking out in their current relationship. When these past causal events were defused and regenerated in a positive way, remarkable changes automatically happened. My latest book Goodbye Hurt and Pain, The Breakthrough Method for Freeing You to Live the Life You Yearn For is launching in the fall 2016 and teaches you how to use RIM for yourself.
As the founder of the RIM Institute, I offer individual RIM sessions, retreats and classes to teach others how to apply the RIM Method with their clients. Research has found this method significantly reduces stress-related illness and significantly improves quality of life. I have a Doctorate in Human Communication and a Masters in Psychiatric Nursing, and have worked as an assistant professor at the University of Colorado, a team leader at a Community Mental Health Center, and a private practitioner. I’m honored to have been acknowledged by my peers with professional awards: "Outstanding Clinical Specialist," "Research Excellence," and an EVVY "Best Personal Growth Book" Award. My prosperity curriculums have been employed successfully by thousands of people. Since 1993, I have taken groups on profound personal growth retreats to Australia, Costa Rica, Hawaii, Chile and Peru. These trips are immersions into experiential learning—I love the Chinese proverb, "Tell me and I may listen, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I will do it."
